These annual awards enable IACLE members to travel to international contact lens meetings.
The 2018 IACLE Travel Awards are supported by all the sponsors of IACLE (Alcon, CooperVision, Johnson & Johnson Vision, Bausch + Lomb and Euclid).
The 2018 recipients are as follows:
FIACLE Martha Garcia, from Universidad Santo Tomas in Bogotá, Colombia, will travel to Academy 2018 in San Antonio, Texas, USA in November. ‘I don´t know how to express the happiness I feel, because participating in this meeting and receiving the award from you is such a blessing,’ said Martha. ‘Why? Because it will give me tools to be a better clinical professional, and a better teacher in contact lenses, the areas of knowledge that are my main passion in my professional life. Thanks a lot IACLE!’
Ahmed Sherry, from the Modern University for Business and Science in Beirut, Lebanon, will represent IACLE at the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators’ Annual Workshop in May/June 2018, also in San Antonio. He commented: ‘It is a great success for me, on a personal and professional level, to receive the IACLE Travel Award. Having the opportunity to attend the AOCLE workshop is a chance to improve my knowledge and skills in the field of contact lenses and meet people from all the optometry schools in North America.’
FIACLE Sabrina Lara from the Universidad Nacional Villa Maria in Córdoba, Argentina, will attend the FEDOPTO Congress in Barranquilla, Colombia in August 2018. ‘I participate actively in IACLE and its events, with the aim of encouraging our colleagues to be members.
