Welcome to the Europe/Africa/Middle East July regional newsletter.
FELLOWS OF IACLE (FIACLEs):
Every three years FIACLEs make a declaration of their continued adherence to the conditions of Fellow status, as such FIACLE status expired on 1 July 2007.
In order to renew your status please refer to: http://www.iacle.org/education_page/programs/fellows_of_iacle.asp to download a copy of the FIACLE Application & Declaration of Participation forms and submit them to IACLE at your earliest convenience.

ACCREDITATION EXAM
Upon successful completion of the IACLE Accreditation Exam IACLE members are eligible to apply for Fellow of IACLE(FIACLE)* status.
Currently there are 20 Accreditation exam registrants from 11 countries in the region. Applications for this years exam close 30 July 2007.
ARE YOU PREPARED TO WRITE THE IACLE ACCREDITATION EXAMINATION IN OCTOBER?
Below is a list of topics that will be covered on the Exam and where in the IACLE Contact Lens Course you will find the information to study.
1. Anatomy and Physiology (covered in Module 1)
2. Optics and Instrumentation (covered in Modules 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 & 9)
3. Deposits, Care and Maintenance (covered in Modules 5, 7 & 9)
4. Lens Design, Lens Fitting, Lens Fit/Behaviour (covered in Modules 1, 2, 3, 7 & 8)
5. Clinical Issues/Eye/Lens Exams/After-Care, S/Lamp (covered in Modules 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9)
6. Lens Materials, Manufacture, Physiol. Performance (covered in Modules 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8)
7. Ocular Responses, Microbiology, & Oc. Defences (covered in Modules 4, 6, 7 & 8)
8. Complications, Pathology (incl. General) (covered Modules 6, 7 & 8)
9. Marketing and Practice Management (covered in Module 10)
The IACLE Contact Lens Course will provide almost all of the information you will need to prepare for the examination.
IACLE CONTACT LENS COURSE
With IACLE phasing out the availability of printed modules, no printed copies of Module 8 are available for purchase. These are only provided to Resource Centers. However there are still copies of other available printed modules as the special sale price of US$60 plus shipping.

Meetings
IACLE/BUCCLE EDUCATORS' MEETING, UNITED KINGDOM - MAY 2007
In conjunction with the BCLA meeting, IACLE held the joint-day Seminar on Advanced Teaching Methods with BUCCLE on Wednesday 30 May 2007.
The meeting, attended by over 40 participants, was very well received by members and industry alike and covered the following topics:
- Contact lens education using modern technology
- Potential uses of video podcasting in a contact lens curriculum
- Clinical assessment of students
- Imagination in interactive eLearning
1. Using gaming scenarios for learning
2. A simple guide to interactive voting
The IACLE annual committee meeting was also held updating members on priorities and activities (minutes of which will be forwarded in due course), followed by a dinner the evening before the main BCLA conference began.
Thank you to all IACLE attendees for their participation. Appreciation is also extended to guest speakers Gina Sorbara, Ian Miller, Lyndon Jones and Philip Morgan, as with the meeting organisers, BUCCLE members and the University of Manchester.
