Industry Seminars and Information Days:

Now that the universities have all re-opened it is back to work as usual for all students and staff.

I would really encourage all Contact Lens Lecturers to get in contact with me so we can start arranging for the Industry representatives from the various companies to visit your schools early in the year. It is so much better when the students know about the products and have the opportunity to use them in the clinics throughout the year rather than hearing about them one week before final exams.

I know the industry guys are always keen, so you will probably be hearing from me in the coming weeks to arrange these meetings.


IACLE Accreditation Exam:

IACLE will once again be holding the Accreditation Exam this year. The date is yet to be finalized but it will probably be between 8 and 12th October. If anyone has a foreseeable problem with this proposed date please let IACLE office know as soon as possible.

For those IACLE members who are keen to earn the prestigious title of FIACLE (Fellow of IACLE), this is the only way to do it!

I encourage members who are interested in sitting the 2007 Accreditation Examination to register for the DLP, as it is designed as a method of self-study and will help you prepare for the upcoming exam. Members who have already completed the previous DLP (in essay question format) are also welcome and encouraged to register for the new MCQ format DLP. Please contact me if you are either interested in doing the accreditation exam or you would like to register for the new MCQ DLP.

New Regional Council Position Filled:

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dina Kruger as the interim Africa Middle East Assistant Secretary. We are sure she will be an asset to IACLE and wish her all the best in her new position.
