ARE YOU ONE OF THE 75 IACLE MEMBERS WHO PASSED THE ACCREDITATION EXAM IN OCTOBER 2004?
If you are - we would like you to consider applying to become a FELLOW OF IACLE (FIACLE).
Passing the IACLE Accreditation Examination is only one of the initial criteria to become a FIACLE. Please refer to the FIACLE web page for a detailed listing of specific criteria.
http://www.iacle.org/education_page/programs/fellows_of_iacle.asp
There are two levels of FIACLE status. Level 1 is for those members who are new to FIACLE status. You must be an IACLE member for a minimum of one year and have achieved a passing score on the Accreditation Exam. You can apply to become a Level 1 FIACLE upon receiving your test results.
After two years, you will be asked to renew your FIACLE status and proceed to a Level 2 status. Level 2 FIACLE status requires that you submit proof of being active in promoting contact lenses and contact lens education by delivering continuing education lectures, publishing articles, doing community service work and a number of other options.
All current FIACLEs will be asked to renew their active status (biennially) in July of 2005. More details will be forthcoming mid-year.

HOW DID WE DO?
IACLE administered the 5th sitting of the Accreditation Exam in October 2004. The exam was administered at 44 test sites, for 134 educators from 23 countries. The exam paper consisted of 150 multiple-choice test items, including visual recognition and case-based questions. The global exam results for 2004 were as follows:
Overall Mean Percent Score: 66%
Maximum Score: 91%
Minimum Score: 31%
Median Score: 66%
Std Deviation: 12.86
The required knowledge level (or pass mark) was 66%. This is the score that candidates needed to achieve to apply for FIACLE status.
It was recently determined that IACLE will move toward a schedule of administering the Accreditation Examination every three years, rather than every two years as was offered in the past. The next administration of the examination will be in 2007.
