IACLE, and industry -- working together
IACLE has developed a
very effective
four-step approach to grow the worldwide contact lens market
via educating contact lens educators. In this endeavour, there are
several areas of synergy from which IACLE and our sponsors can benefit.
Continuing Practitioner Education
As part of the development of the contact lens market, IACLE understands
the importance of Continuing Education. IACLE actively encourages
those educators that have attained FIACLE
status to be involved in conducting local continuing education programs.
Through FIACLEs
Industry can arrange any Continuing Education at the local level,
making use of IACLE resources such as the CL
Course.
Educator Meetings
In providing ongoing support to educators, IACLE organises independent
educator meetings in conjunction with conferences held by local
associations. At such meetings, at an allotted time during the program,
IACLE can provide the opportunity for all industry to make a short
presentation to attendees.
Professional Staff Training
Highly trained professional sales and technical staffs are critical.
IACLE can assist by having FIACLEs
provide in-house training to professional staff using IACLE resources.
The training may be presented in the form of lectures or workshops
and tailored in accordance with the knowledge level and areas of
interest of the staff.
IACLE Industry Seminars
IACLE will facilitate the organisation of local Industry Seminars
at institutions where contact lenses are taught. All local Industry
representatives are invited to make a presentation to final year
students who are next year's practitioners and Industry's future
customers. This is the opportunity to distribute promotional materials
and commercial information, as well as discuss market trends. Educational
needs, such as equipment, trial lens fitting sets and contact lens
solutions should be assessed. Industry is encouraged to gift each
student with a complimentary pair of contact lenses, for the reason
that if a student is comfortable wearing contact lenses, he/she
will have more confidence going into practice fitting contact lenses.
Local Industry Discussions
IACLE will facilitate cooperation among industry by bringing local
or regional industry representatives together to discuss relevant
issues in the contact lens market, such as public awareness.
If you are interested in obtaining further information about any
of these initiatives, please contact the Regional or National IACLE
Coordinator, or the IACLE
Secretariat.
