IACLE's mission is to raise the standard of contact lens education and promote the safe use of contact lenses worldwide. IACLE aims to increase the number of qualified contact lens educators, improve the quality of contact lens teaching and provide an educational infrastructure, thereby increasing the number of skilled contact lens practitioners globally and increasing the use of contact lenses worldwide.

Industry sponsors, contact lens affiliations, and a strong network of educators support the IACLE Executive Board in developing and growing the contact lens educational infrastructure. IACLE's global education structure is divided into five diverse regions: Africa/Middle East, Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America.

IACLE, whose Secretariat is based in Sydney Australia, works across these five regions and is driven by an Executive Board and supported by an Industry Advisory Board.

IACLE also employs a number of Regional and National Coordinators, who assist in running educational programs and working closely with educators in their respective countries. As can be expected, the educational infrastructure and contact lens market vary from one country to another. Therefore, IACLE Coordinators play a pivotal role in identifying educational needs for their region or country, and as a result have been instrumental in developing and driving programs. Once established, these programs are assessed, tailored accordingly and expanded on an international level to benefit other educators.

We understand that there are many countries where the contact lens market is growing rapidly and contact lens education must be improved quickly. Therefore, we have targeted active members to become voluntary Area Representatives. These key individuals assist IACLE in various activities, including targeting potential members and institutions, as well as providing guidance and support for others in their country.
