Module 8: Special Contact Lens Fitting - NOW AVAILABLE -

Module 8, the last of the IACLE Contact Lens Course (ICLC) modules to be completed, is now available.

Module 8 completes the list of topics that the ICLC was always intended to cover.

It includes topics ranging from dealing with the older generation of contact lens materials and older wearers (8L5: Refitting PMMA Lens Wearers) to a modern topic (8L9: Orthokeratology), the young (8L3: Children and Contact Lenses) and the not-so-young (8L2: Presbyopia and Contact Lenses and 8L4: Aphakia and Contact Lenses), those for whom contact lenses are one of the few remaining vision correction options (8L1: Keratoconus and Contact Lenses, 8L6: Refractive Surgery and Contact Lenses, and 8L7: Therapeutic Contact Lenses), and those for whom contact lenses can represent some fun, a cosmetic advantage, or a means of overcoming some of the disadvantages inherent in having a colour vision defect (although a ‘cure’ is still not possible) (8L8: Tinted Contact Lenses).

Module 8 fills almost 450 A4 pages and includes more than 1,100 text, diagrammatic, and photographic slides.  The module is available as a CD-ROM that contains both B&W and colour PDFs which means that the module can be printed in either form or simply viewed on-screen using the Acrobat Reader (available free-of-charge from Adobe Inc.).

Additionally, every slide used in the module is available individually, in colour on the CD which means an educator can create a slide-based lecture simply by combining their own teaching resources with the extensive resources  supplied by IACLE in Module 8 or any of the other nine modules that together make-up the 10-module ICLC.

The ICLC project has been a true team effort spanning some 10 years and has involved both IACLE staff as well as experts from many contact lens fields who contributed their own lecture materials to the ICLC.
