Industry Seminars are extremely valuable to students, educators and industry alike.
IACLE understands the importance of local industry representatives, educators and students getting to know each other and fostering a relationship. Therefore, facilitated by IACLE, members invite industry representatives to visit their institutions and to meet with and make presentations to the students and faculty.
These meetings are the opportunity for industry to present students with products and promotional material and to discuss market trends. Industry is encouraged to gift each student with a complimentary pair of contact lenses, for the rationale that if a student is comfortable wearing contact lenses, they will have more confidence going into practice fitting contact lenses. Industry can also arrange with the educators, future workshops for the students in which to discuss specific products.
Members coordinating these seminars have seen the value of arranging IACLE Industry Seminars and have been proactive in organizing these on a regular basis over the past years.
Industry Seminars can cover one, or more, of the following seminar types:
- Product Information Seminars : Industry representatives provide information about their products,
- Workshop Seminars: Industry representatives and IACLE members run Workshops for students using the latest products,
- Marketing Seminars: Industry representatives provide information regarding the marketing of their products and information about current CL market trends.
“…I think this will definitely help us during practice. The knowledge of product gives us the idea that the particular product is available in market. So we can easily find [out] and with this [knowledge], the patients & our customers will benefit & so me...” (IACLE student)
Students confident in CL fitting = CL market growth
