Lady using iacle resources in a resource centerA Resource Center is established at an institution where contact lens educators are full IACLE members and one of them is the Resource Center Coordinator. A full member may apply or be requested to assume the responsibility of Resource Center Coordinator.

A Resource Center is a centrally designated area within an institution functioning as a small library or reference center housing IACLE educational resources. Staff members and supervised students must have access to these resources.

All members within an institution must store their IACLE resources at the Resource Center. The institution is asked to support this project by providing the infrastructure necessary to house and use the resource materials, such as computers, video players, desks, shelving, etc.

The materials IACLE provide are free of charge to the Resource Center or are subsidised by IACLE and industry funding. IACLE and the institution agree that those materials, partially purchased with funding from the institution, will remain in joint ownership with IACLE. Those items that IACLE provides free of charge will remain the property of IACLE.

IACLE asks the institution to maintain the materials and in the event of loss or damage, to notify the Regional Coordinator or Secretariat. The resources are the responsibility of the institution in the same way as any other teaching materials, either fully or partially. They are liable for damages or necessary replacements at cost price.

Resource Center Coordinators are obliged to complete two types of reports per year:

  • Resource Usage Report (click to download)
  • Stock take Report - a complete list of resources held in the Resource Center at that time

Both reports are to be submitted to their regional/national IACLE office or the IACLE Secretariat preferable by email.
